The first day of the Duleep Trophy final between India Red and India Blue saw Prithvi Shaw and Dinesh Karthik score hundreds while the 2nd day witnessed a comeback from the bowlers. The 17-year-old Prithvi became the youngest to score a century in Duleep Trophy final and in fact the 2nd youngest player ever after Javed Miandad to smash a hundred in a first-class tournament final.

The India Red team skipper Dinesh Karthik smashed his 24th first-class hundred while playing as a wicketkeeper to equal Indian record of 24 FC tons as a keeper held by Parthiv Patel. Karthik also extended his already good record in the FC tournament finals as he struck his 6th century having played a total of 13 finals in Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy. All-rounder Washington Sundar also joined his team-mates with a brilliant 88-run knock towards the end as the 17-year-old became the 2nd youngest player after Shaw to score a fifty in the Duleep Trophy.

Alongside the records, some unwanted batting records have also been earned in the game so far. India Red No.10 batsman Ashok Dinda bagged a 2nd ball duck while 19-year-old Ishan Kishan of India Blue continued his duck streak in this Duleep Trophy. Kishan, who batted his 3rd innings in this tournament so far, bagged a duck in each of the three innings.

Dinda on the other hand, recorded his 7th duck in the Duleep Trophy history, the joint 2nd most for any player. He finds an elite company on this list as he equalled the former Indian captain and the legendary batsman, Rahul Dravid. The Karnataka batsman, who represented South Zone, also bagged seven ducks in 34 innings.

This duck was Dinda’s 5th consecutive in Duleep Trophy made him the 2nd player to bag duck in five consecutive innings in the tournament. The other player to pocket this unwanted feat was Salil Ankola, who got out for a duck in five consecutive Duleep Trophy innings between 1993 and 1994.
