Team India saved all their energy for today’s game. Right from the word go, they had the lid over their arch-rivals Pakistan and it ended up being a one-sided game. The much-awaited game got underway on Wednesday and the Men in Green never arrived in Dubai as they put up a lacklustre show with the bat and then couldn’t turn it around with the ball. It was India all the way and they won handsomely by eight wickets while chasing a paltry score of 163 runs.

After opting to bat first, Pakistan lost both their openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq within first five overs. A poor start meant their run-rate was never good and though Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik stitched a decent partnership, runs weren’t coming thick and fast. Just when the duo got going, Kuldeep Yadav struck to remove the former who was approaching a half-century.

The wicket triggered a collapse and Pakistan slipped from being 85/2 to 121/7 in no time. It was a blend of some superb fielding and catching from the Men in Blue and they were also helped by some shoddy batting by their rivals. Decent lower-order contributions helped Pakistan post a meagre total of 162 runs on the board as they were bundled out in the 44th over.

Clinical chase

The score was never going to trouble Team India as they got off to a brilliant start, unlike their opponents. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan played the new ball cautiously and were severe on anything short. Most of the short balls went over the ropes over the sixes despite the Stadium known for its long boundaries. Both of them added 86 runs in 13.1 overs as Rohit notched up a 36-ball half-century.

However, he was castled soon by Shadab Khan and Dhawan too followed on 46 with Faheem Ashraf taking his wicket. But by then only formality was remaining and the duo Dinesh Karthik and Ambati Rayudu spent some crucial time in the middle. They didn’t take any risk whatsoever and looked confident during their stay in the middle eventually steering India to a comfortable victory in the 29 overs with eight wickets in hand.

Meanwhile, the trollers were waiting for this match to begin and they trolled Pakistan to the hilt for their failure. Fakhar Zaman was at the receiving end as he was hyped a lot ahead of the clash and the left-hander ended up with a nine-ball duck.
