<p><strong><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/zim-vs-ind-sanju-samson-completes-routine-catch-in-2nd-attempt-to-send-back-innocent-kaia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sanju Samson</a> </strong>might have made his international debut in 2015, but he has been in and out of the Indian team since then due to inconsistent performances and cut-throat competition. However, Samson has been playing for India regularly since the Ireland series in the shortest format and had showcased consistent performances in that series and the away T20Is against the West Indies.</p>
<p>Despite putting in his best efforts, the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter was excluded from Asia Cup 2022 as the selectors decided to stick to two wicketkeepers Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. Meanwhile, the setback does not seem to have affected Samson too much as he played a finisher&#8217;s role to perfection in the second ODI against Zimbabwe a couple of days ago.</p>
<p>The promising cricketer would now be hoping to make the most of whatever opportunities he gets so that he can be on the selectors as well as the team management&#8217;s radar for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this month.</p>

<p>If Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel&#8217;s injury setbacks were not enough for the Indian team, they have another reason to worry about and that is senior pacer<strong> <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/pakistan-must-fully-capitalize-on-indias-premier-pacers-bumrah-shami-missing-out-in-asia-cup-sarfraz-nawaz/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mohammed Shami&#8217;s</a> </strong>exclusion from Asia Cup 2022. Shami who had been a part of the Men in Blue&#8217;s 2021 T20 World Cup squad in the UAE did not get a chance to feature in the continental tournament.</p>
<p>Shami&#8217;s exclusion invited many criticisms and also raised plenty of questions regarding whether the seasoned speedster is indeed in the scheme of things for the T20 World Cup. The frontline pacer has been consistent in the IPL and finished with 20 scalps to his name in the 16 matches that he played for the victorious Gujarat Titans this season at an economy of eight.</p>
<p>Even though Shami had a memorable IPL 2022, he has not played a single T20I for India ever since they were crashed out in the Super 12 stages of last year&#8217;s T20 World Cup, and thus, the selectors had no second thoughts about excluding him from Asia Cup T20.</p>
