The biggest rivalry of the cricketing world is set to resume as India take on Pakistan on August 28 in their inaugural match of Asia Cup 2022. Rohit Sharma will aim to lift his second Asia Cup trophy as captain. Babar Azam is yet to lift a major trophy as captain but has been smelling for his first for sometime.

The Men in Green will have the psychological advantage after their 10-wicket win over India in their last meeting, which came in the T20 World Cup 2921. Based on their performance, Pakistan were one of the favourites to win the tournament but lost to Australia in the semifinals. India, on the other hand, were shown the door right after the group stage.

On that note, here is a look at three of the best India versus Pakistan matches in Asia Cup history:

A last-over finish is always special as there is drama, suspense and most importantly, raw emotions. One such night transpired in Dhaka when India challenged Pakistan in the sixth match of the 2014 Asia Cup.

Batting first, the Virat Kohli-led side posted 245 runs in their 50 overs. Ambati Rayudu was the leading scorer for team India with 58 runs, while Rohit Sharma (56) and Ravindra Jadeja (unbeaten 52) also scored half-centuries in the first innings. Saeed Ajmal, regarded as one of the best spinners of all time, picked up three wickets to slow down India’s progress in the middle overs.

Even though it was just 246 to chase, Pakistan found things difficult as Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra kept them under pressure. Mohammad Hafeez kept fighting and scored 75 runs from 117 deliveries and when India were on the verge of winning, Shahid Afridi stood tall and changed the complexion of the game as he scored an unbeaten 34 off just 18 balls and won the match for the Men in Green with just two balls and one wicket remaining.
