Asian Cricket Awards to be announced on 13th October: The Talk Home Mobile Asian Cricket Awards which was a success previous year is again set to take place at Lord’s on 13 October 2015. The Mecca of Cricket will witness this grand event in which the British Asian players, coaches and administrators will be felicitated for their remarkable contributions towards English cricket. Even the young stars of tomorrow, behind-the-scenes staff, coaches, media and other unsung heroes would be honored in this award function.
This year the British Asian players like Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid have performed exceedingly well. Especially Moeen Ali who was adjudged the Player of the year in the previous year’s event is likely to steal the show this time around as well. He has been phenomenal as an all-rounder and has been able to cement his place in the side in all the formats of the game. While the leggie Adil Rashid has proved his worth in the limited overs format and seems to be the answer for England’s spinning conundrum.
The duo of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid are among six players shortlisted for this prestigious recognition. Varun Chopra is also in the frame after he enjoyed a splendid summer with Warwickshire. While Haseeb Hammed, Kishen Velani and Aadil Ali are nominated for professional young player of the year award.
Isha Guha, the former English seamer who has now taken up Broadcasting as profession is shortlisted for Media award while Nottinghamshire star all-rounder Sonia Odedra is in the frame for Woman in Cricket award. The Asian Cricket Awards Co-founder Jas Jassal BEM of Inventive Sports stated that: “The quality of nominations was unprecedented. The judging panel had a hugely difficult task in determining the shortlist from so many inspiring candidates from the Asian community in Britain.”
The Chief Executive Officer of the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Tom Harrison was quoted saying, “The ECB is delighted to give the Asian Cricket Awards our whole-hearted backing. The awards are a great way of recognizing and rewarding the contribution the South Asian community makes to cricket at all levels and we are proud to be official partners for this prestigious event once again.”
