The two table toppers, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings were up against each other in the last fixture of the IPL 2021. The clash was deemed to be an engaging affair and it turned out the same towards the end. In the same light, Shimron Hetmyer who was there till the end to push DC over the line opened up on his batting position in the last game.
Hetmyer played a crucial knock of 28* off 18 balls to help DC win the game by three wickets. However, fans were in for a surprise when Ravi Ashwin came to bat ahead of the Caribbean batter. He opened on the same issue and added that he was a bit pissed off at first but got ok with it as it was done for the team overall.
Ashwin came ahead of Hetmyer and couldn’t last long on the field but Hetmyer remained absolutely sensational with his cameo as Delhi reached the top of the points table after this victory. He added that his challenge in the IPL has been really fun and he will do things whatever the team requires.
I am trying to be more open to different challenges: Shimron Hetmyer
“I am enjoying playing the role of being a finisher, to be honest. I am trying to be more open to different challenges. Playing for the West Indies is about batting in the top-four, here it is a different challenge for me and it has been really fun.
“At first, I was pissed, and then it was like for the team. Whatever the team requires, we will do that. At first, I thought you are going to take Moeen Ali out, to be honest, I know you are very well known for slog-sweeping. I was surprised to see you nudging it around,” Hetmyer told Ashwin in a video posted by iplt20.com
After defeating CSK by three wickets and two balls to spare, DC acquired 20 points to seal the top slot and they will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their next clash. It is much likely that they will finish in the top two slots of IPL 2021.
