Australian all-rounder Andrew Tye is making steady strides in world cricket. He is on the verge of making his ODI debut in the upcoming fixtures against England this month. Prior to this, he has already donned the Australian jersey in the shortest format of the game. A very handy lower order batsman, Tye, is renowned for his slower deliveries in T20 cricket.

He has the unique distinction of registering three T20 hat-tricks in the year of 2017. One among those came in the Indian Premier League where he was a last minute addition to the Gujarat Lions franchise. Needless to concede, he is a class act with the ball. Recently, he joined the long list of cricketers to name their favorite cricketers in their All Time XI list.

There are a few surprise inclusions made by Andrew Tye in his list. Speaking to Sportswallah, Tye named English veteran Alastair Cook and former Australian opener Justin Langer as his openers of the team. Speaking about Cook, Tye remarked that the veteran batsman has a great temperament. When asked for the reason to include Langer in the team, Tye jokingly remarked that he is only returning the favor.

“To repay the favour (laughs). Just his tenacity and eager to win the battle and fight against the opposition. Probably one of the most exciting opening pair (Langer and Cook) and effective way of wearing down the bowlers,” quoted Andrew Tye. The next two batsmen in line are arguably two of the best batsmen of their generation.

Former cricketer Jacques Kallis and Ricky Ponting find places in Tye’s All Time XI. Following the two gentlemen, comes the names of two modern day greats – Steven Smith and Virat Kohli. Speaking about Kohli, Tye remarked that he is one of the best batsman in the world right now. “One of the best batsman in the world at the moment and have to him in the team,” he quoted.

Commenting on the Australian skipper, Andrew Tye noted that Steve Smith averages over 60 at such a young age. In the wicker-keeper’s role, Tye found a place for former Aussie great Adam Gilchrist. A couple of former Australian legends followed in the bowling department as well. Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne were the preferred picks for Andrew Tye. Also, legendary Caribbean bowler Curtly Ambrose and South African speedster Dale Steyn found places in Tye’s XI.

Here is the All Time XI of Andrew Tye:

Alastair Cook, Justin Langer, Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, Virat Kohli, Steven Smith, Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Dale Steyn, Curtly Ambrose, Glenn McGrath.
