Australia starts as favorites against West Indies– West Indies v Australia Test Series Preview: The mighty Aussies are determined to start their Ashes preparation with a short tour to the Caribbean Islands. The first of 2 Test matches is scheduled to be played at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica. West Indies have been in good touch as they leveled the series against England last month, 1-1. On the other hand, Australia will be playing their first Test since January. Taking on the World cup champions is difficult in any format. The home team should be on top of their game to cause any trouble to the Australians.
Venue: Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica.
Date: June 3
Time: 19.00 IST.
Weather: Bright weather and sun shine expected.
Team Analysis–
West Indies:
The home team will surely miss the services of the experienced, Shivnarine Chanderpaul. Having played around 164 Test matches, Chanders will feel himself unlucky to have missed out these 2 Test matches on his home soil. Captain Ramdin is also not in the best of his form and he will have to step up with the bat if they are to put the visitors under some threat. Shai Hope is expected to open the West Indies batting with Brathwaite. In the middle order Shane Dowrich is set to replace Chanderpaul.
Probable XI:
Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope, Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Jermaine Blackwood, Shane Dowrich, Denesh Ramdin (c & wk), Jason Holder, Devendra Bishoo, Jerome Taylor, Kemar Roach.
Australia:
As far as the batting order is concerned, Marsh will open alongside David Warner, as the left hand batsman Chris Rogers sustained a head injury during the training session. The pitch at Windsor Park is expected to assist spinners a lot, so the debutant Fawad Ahmed can be roped in alongside the offie, Nathan Lyon. Considering their recent form, Australia definitely start as favorites. With the likes of Warner, Smith and Clarke, the Aussies will look to dominate right from Day 1.
Probable XI:
David Warner, Shaun Marsh, Steve Smith, Michael Clarke (c), Shane Watson, Mitchell Marsh, Brad Haddin (wk), Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood
