The experts called 309 an above par total at the half-way stage but Steve Smith and George Bailey ensured a smooth, joltless chase and successfully bettered the Rohit-Kohli partnership with their 242-run stand. In the end, Australia got home with 5 wickets in hand and take a 1-0 lead in the series.

The decision of batting first has certainly gone in India’s favor. as they got to 100 for the loss of just one wicket in 21 overs.
India have had a great start to their batting innings though they lost Shikhar Dhawan early, Rohit Sharma has been batting at his best and has crossed the half-century mark. Virat Kohli also started well and the shots are perfectly flowing out of his bat.
The touring Indian team takes on Australia in the first ODI of the series at the WACA Perth. Indian skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first.
Indian squad:
MS Dhoni (C), Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Barinder Sran
Australian squad:
David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steven Smith (c), George Bailey, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, Matthew Wade (wk), James Faulkner, Scott Boland, Josh Hazlewood, Joel Paris
