Team India posted the highest total at the MCG but their bowlers were once again incapable of defending it and with that they have now conceded an unassailable 3-0 lead to Australia in the ongoing 5-match series. Though it was an unfruitful match for the team, but most of the players who played their part also recorded a few stats and records.

Here are the statistical highlights of Australia v India 3rd ODI:

17 – Is the number of consecutive home ODIs that Australia has now won. It is now the longest streak for any team going past West Indies (1986-1990) and Sri Lanka (1996-1998) who had 16 wins.

125.22 – Glenn Maxwell’s striker rate after batting in 53 innings which is the best among batsmen who have played minimum 1000 balls.

86.75 – George Bailey now has the best average for a batsman against India in ODIs among batsmen who have played minimum 10 innings.

87.93 – Australian skipper Steve Smith now has the second best average for a batsman against India in international cricket among batsmen who have played minimum 10 innings.

295 – India’s total of 295/6 is the highest total vs Australia at the MCG.

300 – Number of International matches MS Dhoni has now played as captain. Only former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting (324) and Stephen Fleming (303) have captained more than him.

161 – Number of innings Virat Kohli took to score 24 ODI centuries. His record is 58 innings lesser than the next fastest; Sachin Tendulkar who took 219 inningss to score those many tons.

10 – Number of centuries Virat has scored against Australia. It is the 6th most centuries by a player against Australia in international cricket.

1 – This is the first time that India’s second wicket partnership has posted 3 or more consecutive ODI innings, before this the 2nd wicket partnership had added 205, 148, 133 and 173 in four consecutive innings in 2012.

1 – This is the first time Virat Kohli has scored 50 or more runs in 3 consecutive ODI innings outside Asia, before this. This is an overall 6th time in his ODI career.

9 – Number of innings since the last time India had a fifty-plus opening stand in ODIs. India’s first wicket has averaged 24.55 with a highest of 42.

335 – Runs Rohit Sharma has scored at an average of 83.75 in ODIs at the MCG; the most he has at any venue. Two of his ten ODI hundreds have come here.

9-1 – Australia’s win-loss record in their last 10 ODIs at the MCG. The last time that they lost here was against Sri Lanka in 2011-12; since then they have won 7 matches here.

89 – MS Dhoni now has 89 stumpings in ODIs. Only Kumar Sangakkara has more stumpings than Dhoni- 99.

52.01 – MS Dhoni’s ODI average 52.01, AB de Villiers has an average of 51.23 & Virat Kohli now has scored runs with an average of 51.10*. These three are the only batsmen with 50 plus batting average in ODIs when they crossed 7000 runs.
