Team India surprised everyone by going with an all-pace attack in the ongoing Perth Test. Many felt that they got carried with a green top on offer and the same was witnessed as there was nothing in the pitch in the first session. After opting to bat first, Australia got off to a great start with their openers adding more than 100 runs. Moreover, no spinner in the line-up meant that there was no respite for the fast bowlers under the scorching sun. This is why Murali Kartik feels that Bhuvneshwar Kumar would’ve been a handy bowler in these conditions.

Bhuvi’s year has been ridden with injuries and last played in Tests in South Africa in January. With the pace trio of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah doing consistently well, the swing bowler was left out of Adelaide Test. After the pictures of a green top surfaced in the media ahead of the second game, many presumed that Bhuvi will play. But Virat Kohli likes to go with extra pace and hence Umesh Yadav got the nod.

While the fans were left fuming over the absence of a spinner, they lashed out at the Indian captain for leaving out Bhuvneshwar.

Bowlers are tired

The Indian bowlers toiled hard for 90 overs on the first day of the Test and managed to pick six wickets. Rather it was a great comeback by the visitors as Australia were bossing the game at one stage at 112/0. Meanwhile, Murali Kartik, during the post-match show, felt that Bhuvneshwar Kumar would’ve made the difference on the pitch. He pointed out that the Indian pacers will get tired now after bowling in heat.

Four seamers getting through 90 overs is going to be laborious. Bhuvneshwar Kumar would have been more effective. The bowlers are tired now. In Adelaide, the hosts came very close to winning even though there were wear and tear in the wicket. The pacers need rest,” he said.

The batsmen are currently fighting hard to restore parity even as Australia were bundled out for 326 runs in the morning.
