The news of Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli missing the last three Tests of the four-match Test series has created havoc in the cricket fraternity. There is a heated debate among the cricket fans on whether Kohli did the right thing or not. Former England captain Michael Vaughan also opined on Kohli’s paternity leave and predicted the result of the Test series.

Virat and his wife Anushka Sharma are all set to welcome their first child in early January, thus, the cricketer has decided to be on a sabbatical for a few days. BCCI has granted the paternity leave to the skipper and Kohli will return back to India after taking part in the first Test match which is scheduled to be played from December 17 – 21 in Adelaide.

“At the selection committee meeting held on October 26th, 2020, Mr Virat Kohli had informed the BCCI about his plans to return to India after the first Test in Adelaide. The BCCI has granted paternity leave to the Indian captain. He will return after the first Test against Australia in Adelaide,” BCCI’s statement read in a release.

Michael Vaughan predicts the result of the Test series

On November 10, the former England captain took to his official Twitter handle and applauded the captain for taking this tough call. Further, he also predicted that the absence of Virat will help the Australian team in winning the series easily.

Michael Vaughan wrote on Twitter, “No @imVkohli (Virat Kohli) for 3 Tests in Australia .. The right decision going to be at the birth of his first child .. but it means Australia will win the series quite easily IMO (in my opinion)”.

In another tweet, the 46-year-old stated that the opening batsman Rohit Sharma should be named as the captain of the team in the limited-overs format. Vaughan made this statement after Rohit’s IPL franchise Mumbai Indians lifted their fifth IPL trophy by defeating Delhi Capitals in the final of IPL 2020.

“Without question, Rohit Sharma should be the Indian T20 captain.. fantastic man-manager & leader.. & he knows exactly how to win T20 games .. it would also give Virat chance to take a breather and just be the player .. it’s works for all other teams around the world..#IPL2020,” Michael Vaughan tweeted.
