Australian Cricketers Harassed for Tickets ahead of the Second Test in Jamaica: Well there has been a surprising and shamed incident at the Sabina Park. The Australian Cricketers had to witness a series of banter between the eager ticket buyers at Sabina Park and were physically harassed to an extent for the reason prior to the day of the start of the second test against West Indies.

In the Jamaican capital, a group of individuals reportedly gained access inside the premises of the stadium and went on to hassle the  Australian players while they were walking unaccompanied by any security from the training nets to the dressing room at the Courtney Walsh end.

Some of the Australian players in the likes of Shane Watson handed over their allocation of tickets and that is what led to confrontations between the ticket hunters and as a result of which the departure of the team bus was delayed by quite sometime at the end of Wednesday’s session. This was due to the fact that a group of locals clashed in front of the bus inside the gate to the stadium.

Also, one among them stood beside the bus as the players boarded the stadium and appeared to berate the players for not handing over more tickets to the locals.

And also, issues regarding security concerns have been raised as there were only two security personnel who were appointed for the purpose of the securing the players and they did little when the mob attacked the players. Several players like Mitchell Marsh and Shaun Marsh were being attacked by the ticket hunters. Also, Shane Watson was also being attacked by them, despite of the fact that Watson had already handed over the tickets.

It is to be noted that the players are provided with an allocation of tickets for the international matches and are used to getting asked for tickets on their travels around the world but hopefully not with the level of aggression as was shown by the fans in Jamaica on Wednesday.

Also, the Australian players were pretty keen to downplay the episode.

The Australian Skipper, Michael Clarke said before training, “There’s obviously been some challenges since we’ve arrived here but we’re looking forward to producing some entertaining cricket for the people who come and watch and for the people who are watching on television.”

He also mentioned of the fact that there are a number of such challenges in the Caribbean to be dealt with.

The second test between Australia and West Indies would start today and Australia are pretty keen to take a 2-0 victory to the series. The Australian squad is likely to be unchanged for the test series.
