Shaheen Afridi has emerged as a leader of Pakistan’s bowling attack across formats and his numbers speak volumes of his prowess. Be it taking quick wickets in Test cricket or containing the run flow in T20Is, the left-arm speedster has proved his mettle in all sorts of conditions. In fact, he has also made the ball talk in the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Having scalped a couple of wickets in Bangladesh’s first innings, Afridi bowled an even more lethal spell in the home team’s second innings and rattled their top order. He took three of Bangladesh’s first four wickets in the innings and would be determined to extend their tally. While Shaheen gave a tough time to Bangladesh batsmen in the Chattogram Test, the crowd tried to put mental pressure on the speedster.

Matthew Wade took Shaheen Afridi for cleaners in the T20 World Cup semi-final

There were chants of Matthew Wade when Afridi was fielding near the boundary ropes. For the unversed, Wade unleashed an onslaught against Shaeen in the recently-concluded T20 World Cup 2021. It was the high-voltage semi-final clash and Pakistan’s win looked inevitable for the best part. However, Wade spoiled their part with a terrific 41-run cameos of 17 balls.

He smashed three successive sixes in the penultimate over of the game to seal a five-wicket triumph for Australia. Notably, Hasan Ali had dropped Wade’s catch earlier in the same over. While Afridi was expected to contain the southpaw, the youngster couldn’t hold onto his nerves and went for cleaners. Wade’s blitzes took Australia to a five-wicket triumph and Afridi was highly criticized.

While the global tournament has been done and dusted, Bangladesh spectators didn’t miss out on poking Afridi over the onslaught. The video of the same went viral on social media. Meanwhile, Shaeen has some work to do in the penultimate day of the contest.

He would like to take some more wickets quickly to bundle the hosts out for a mediocre total. As the track is constantly deteriorating with time, Afridi would back himself to take his side over the line with a brilliant spell.
