Team Bangladesh suffered a humiliating defeat against South Africa in the first Test. The 333-run loss surely did not please the Bangladeshi skipper Mushfiqur Rahim one bit. He was seen clearly disappointed with the way the team fared up in the highly anticipated match for the visitors. In the post match press conference, Rahim had some harsh criticism for his team too.

Bangladesh had bundled out for a paltry score of 90 in the second innings. Despite this, Mushfiqur Rahim felt that the bowlers were the root cause for the dismal show in the match. He had cited that the opposition bowlers bowled with aggression, which the visitors lacked. These words of criticism have not got down well with the Bangladeshi bowlers.

As per the recent reports in bdcrictime.com, the bowlers chose to keep mum on the issue. At the team hotel, the pacers Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed were spotted talking in isolation. The case was no different for Shafiul Islam and spinner Mehidy Hasan. Only pacer Rubel Hossain, who was not a part of the first Test, was seen walking in the hotel lobby.

Mahmudullah refutes

While the bowlers kept quiet on the issue, senior member of the team, Mahmudullah, opened up about his concerns. He clearly indicated that the words used by Mushfiqur Rahim were not the ideal ones. He did not take the name of the skipper directly but the words aimed at the remarks Rahim had made. He rightly mentioned that bowling is not the only grey area that the team has to address.

“If you talk about bowlers like Rabada and Morkel, they have played a lot of matches. They are well ahead when it comes to experience. But yes, our spin bowling should have been better. Actually, there are many small things. Batting, bowling, fielding – we have to work hard in all three departments,” quoted Mahmudullah.
