Bangladesh was up against West Indies for three-match ODI series on their home soil, where they whitewashed the guests 3-0. Bangladesh squad was much happy to have their ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan back in their squad after serving a year-long ban for failing to report corruption-related approaches made directly to him. However, Shakib suffered a groin injury during the third ODI, and his availability in the Test squad was under question.

However, in the latest turn of events, the Bangladesh team have breathed a sigh of relief after the star all-rounder got named in Bangladesh’s 18-man squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against the guest nation. Talking about the other changes in the team, Hasan Mahmud and Yasir Ali Chowdhury are the two uncapped players who have been named in the same Test squad that will be led by Mominul Haque. The Test series between the two nations will get underway on 3rd February.

The other senior players such as Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, and Tamim Iqbal are also named in the same list. Shakib’s availability will be a great boost for the host nation owing to his commendable form in the just-concluded ODI series. The all-rounder scalped six wickets and amassed 113 runs at an average of 56.5 while pushing his team-up. He was declared as the man of the series for his sheer heroics with both bat and ball.

The hosts were jolted when he left the field on January-25, in between the match after suffering unbearable pain, which came after bowling his fifth over in the final ODI. The first Test will be staged in Chattogram on February three, while the second one will get on the floor on February-11 in Dhaka.
