Bangladesh name preliminary squad for Australia, South Africa series

They are scheduled to host Australia in a two-Test match series in late August.

Team Bangladesh is leaving no stone unturned in their preparations for the two upcoming international assignments that they have. They are scheduled to host Australia in a two-Test match series in late August. After the conclusion of the Australia series, they will tour to South Africa for a full tour in September and October. The national selectors have recently named a big pool of players which will be the base ground for the selectors to pick players for the two tours.

A total of 29 players have been named in the preliminary squad on Thursday. The squad boasts of all the possible strong names that have played for the national setup in the recent times or have been prominent and consistent performers in the domestic level. Tamim Iqbal has been the leading batsman for Bangladesh in all forms of the games.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim are the two most experienced player in the line up along with the ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza. All-rounder Mahmudullah finds a place too. Among the younger lot, the exciting talent of Mehedi Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, and Sabbir Rahman are the prominent names in the list.

Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Sabbir Rahman, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mahmudullah Riyad, Liton Kumar Das, Mominul Haque, Mehedi Hasan, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Subhashish Roy, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Rubel Hossain, Nurul Hasan, Sanjamul Islam, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Mohammad Saifuddin, Anamul Haque, Abul Hasan Raju, Al Amin Hossain, Nasir Hossain, Muktar Ali, Tanbir Haider, Saqlain Sajib, Shafiul Islam.

Recenly, team Australia had named their 13-man squad for the Bangladesh tour. Much against all speculations, they named a very strong lineup for the two Tests. Pace bowler Mitchell Starc was the only big name rested for the tour. On the other hand, left arm spin bowler Steve O’Keefe was dropped from the squad.
