Reports on the Bangladesh Cricket Board website bdcricteam.com suggest that Bangladesh and Pakistan cricket teams are under security threat in India. The same report also suggest that the Afghanistan cricket team too could be in danger of an attack. The Kolkata police have said that a faction of a few religious political parties may be tempted to attack the teams when they assemble in India for the upcoming World T20 2016.
The security threat arises only from Kolkata. The Kolkata police also have a reputation of taking the security detail of each and every team that comes into the city very seriously. Therefore, it can be assumed that the best of security will certainly be provided for the teams. Reports also suggest that all the three teams will be staying at the same hotel to minimize the probability of an attack.
The Kolkata Cricket Association (KCA) also reportedly informed the media that tanks will also be provided at the premise of the Eden Gardens in order to ensure a peaceful World T20. Bangladesh’s security concerns during the group stage, however, will be at a minimum as they will play most of their matches in Dharamsala.
Bangladesh and Pakistan will first square off in the Asia Cup T20 before making the short trip to India to take part in the World T20.
