Australian cricket is going through one of its worst times. More than 230 Aussie cricketers are without a work contract for almost a month now. The pay-dispute between Cricket Australia (CA) and the players seems to have no end. Both the parties are yet to reach an agreement for the “Memorandum of Understanding”.

The Australian team is scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a two-match series next month in August. The Australian Cricket Manager Gavin Dovey is positive about the players touring the sub-continent. The previous contracts of the Aussie cricketers expired on June 30, earlier this year and since then the players at present have no ties with the board.

Bangladesh tour to go as per schedule

Dovey stated that there are a lot of tasks ahead of the tour which have to be ticked off. Meanwhile, a team of delegates from Australia has also visited Bangladesh in order to maintain the security dimensions of their players during the series. “There is obviously a lot of work to be done. But we are hopeful and optimistic that the tour will go ahead,” he said after inspecting the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.

Security of the players very Important

The Australian team has always hesitated to visit Bangladesh in the recent times. They cancelled the tour in 2015 and also didn’t send their Under-19 team to Bangladesh for last year’s ICC Under-19 World Cup due to security issues. The on-going pay-dispute between CA and the players is a major threat to the upcoming tour.

“We were very disappointed not to come in 2015 but obviously the safety and security of the players and the team is paramount, irrespective of whether we tour to Bangladesh or anywhere else in the world,” Dovey further added.

Bangladesh tour schedule

Australia is expected to tour Bangladesh for a two-match Test series in August. The first Test would be played from 27th August to 31st August at Dhaka, while the next game would be played from 4th September to 8th September at Chittagong.
