Bangladesh have also clinched the ODI series against Zimbabwe, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead. However, the Tigers had to work for it, especially in the second match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Donald Tiripano turned up with a breezy half-century, but in the end, the home team won by four runs. The third and final ODI on Friday, March 4 is nothing, but a dead rubber.

The last is also Mashrafe Mortaza’s last as Bangladesh’s ODI skipper. The Narail Express put forth his decision to step aside after BCB chief Nazmul Hasan Papon said that the ongoing series would be the pacer’s last as the Tigers’ ODI captain. The hosts have also rested Mushfiqur Rahim after he refused to go to Pakistan. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe will be keen to avoid a whitewash after a strong show.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch in Sylhet has been an absolute belter for batting. Bowlers are again expected to work out of their skins and also be patience to reap the rewards. The conditions will mostly be cloudy with decent chances of rain from 2 PM to 6 PM. The dew factor will come to the fore, especially in the second half. Hence, chasing should be the way forward. The temperature will be around 23 degrees.

Team Combination

Bangladesh

The Tigers may resort to a few changes for the match. Mushfiqur Rahim won’t be a part of the game and hence the left-handed Soumya Sarkar is likely to come in. Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman didn’t play the last game. They were replaced by Shafiul Islam and Al-Amin Hossain.

Both Shafiul and Al-Amin were taken for plenty in the previous game. Taijul Islam picked three wickets and his confidence will be high. The Bangladesh batting is in ominous form. Liton Das got run out last time, but Tamim turned up. Mahmudullah Riyad and Mohammad Mithun are also in rhythm.

Probable XI

Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das (wk), Najmul Hossain Shanto, Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mohammad Mithun, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mashrafe Mortaza (C), Taijul Islam, Shafiul Islam/Mustafizur Rahman, Al-Amin Hossain/Mohammad Saifuddin

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe put up a much-improved show in the second game than they did in the series opener. Tinashe Kamunhukamwe got a fifty last time and his confidence will be high. Sean Williams had a tough day after returning. But Wesley Madhevere has turned out to be an absolute revelation.

The youngster is their leading run-scorer of the series apart from getting a couple of wickets. Sikandar Raza threatened, but got out just when his team needed him to carry on. Carl Mumba is their leading wicket-taker with three scalps. The rest hasn’t quite been able to deliver the goods.

Probable XI

Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, Regis Chakabva, Brendan Taylor, Sean Williams (C), Wesley Madhevere, Sikandar Raza, Richmond Mutumbami (wk), Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Donald Tiripano, Carl Mumba, Charlton Tshuma
