Bangladesh wicketkeeper Anamul Haque registers his second double ton

Just two months after hitting his first double ton, 25-year-old Bangladesh batsman Anamul Haque did an encore of his feat. Playing in the National Cricket League (NCL) 2017-18, the top-order batsman registered the milestone against Dhaka Division at BKSP-3, Savar.

The Khulna Division batsman scored a scintillating 202 in the final round. Anamul was on 167* off 206 after the end of the second day and went on to register his 14th ton in first-class cricket the following day. He brought up his second first-class double century in 248 balls in the morning session on day three.

Haque earlier scored his maiden first-class double ton against Rangpur Division in Khulna in September, a feat that had eluded him in previous attempts. In 2012, Haque missed a maiden double hundred against Dhaka Metro when he was dismissed for 193.

However, the right-hander didn’t carry on for long after reaching the milestone. He eventually culminated his inning on 202 off 251 deliveries including 23 fours and 4 sixes.

Anamul and Mahedi added a mammoth 295 runs for the second wicket. The indomitable partnership put Tier-1 toppers Khulna right at the apex of the standings. On the other hand, Mahedi missed out on his maiden double ton after being dismissed for 177 runs.

Mahedi scored his fourth first-class hundred in 109 balls. It was his second hundred in this season. Previously, he had made the same score of 177 against Barisal in Khulna in September. His innings comprised of 21 fours and 2 sixes.

Earlier, Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s career-best 7/24 restricted Dhaka for just 113 runs. Khulna has declared their innings at 459/8 in 91 overs, leading by 346 runs.

Till now there have been three double centuries in this NCL. Anamul has hit two while Rangpur’s Naeem Islam scored a brilliant 216 against Dhaka Division in October.
