‘Catches Win You Matches’- Although this might seem to be a very clichéd statement, it still has its own importance even today. As a fielding unit, taking all the opportunities that come your way is very important. Catching and good fielding could indeed win you many games.

The Big Bash League has now reached the business end. Teams are trying hard to end up in the top four. With not many matches left, the points table looks very interesting. As many as six teams are competing to be in the top four to ensure a berth in the semi-finals. In the Big Bash League game today between Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers, we witnessed what could probably be the best catch of the season. The Adelaide Strikers have won the game very comfortably by 26 runs.

What an amazing catch that!

The budding and talented leg-spinner from Afghanistan, Rashid Khan was handed over the ball in the 17th over of the game. Rashid tossed up a wide full toss to Dwyane Bravo who had just come into the crease. Bravo hit a four off the first ball that he faced in the previous over. He was looking good to set the chase up in the company of the Jamaican all-rounder Kieron Pollard.

Seeing a flighted delivery outside the off-stump, his eyes were lit up. Moreover, he looked all good to clear the ropes before a miracle happened. He wanted to clove the ball over the long-off fence. However, the dip and turn on the ball that Khan produced forced him to go a little squarer than what he intended.

Ben Laughlin who was fielding at long-on sprinted towards his left and caught it when he was running at full tilt, headed towards the ropes. He flicked the ball back into the field back-handed just as he was going over the ropes. Jake Weatherald, who was coming the other way from sweeper cover, had to complete it by throwing himself to his left as Laughlin has flicked it flat and hard and a long way infield. Weatherald grabbed it with both hands, at full stretch and completed the best catch of the season by far.

Here is a look at the catch:
