The Sydney Thunder had a torrid time last time around in the Big Bash League (BBL). They finished the league stage with four wins from 10 matches and bowed out of the tournament before the knockouts. The franchise has recently roped in English fast bowler Chris Jordan for the upcoming season. He has the experience of playing in the T20 event for the Adelaide Strikers.

The 30-year-old will join the likes of Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan and fast bowler Jofra Archer. Both of them have played alongside Jordan for Sussex Sharks in England’s domestic cricket. He sounded excitement after his selection and also expressed his desire to hone his skills under the tutelage of former New Zealand speedster and Thunder’s head coach Shane Bond.

The fans should expect a hundred percent

“The prospect of working with [head coach] Shane Bond is very exciting. The Big Bash is a real spectacle, it’s run really well. Seeing so many kids in the crowds bodes well for the future, they are very enthusiastic fans and I’m looking forward to entertaining everyone,” Jordan was quoted as saying in Thunders’ official website.

He also promised to give his best shot on the cricket pitch. “When I step onto the field I like to play with a smile and play with passion and pride. The fans should expect a hundred percent every game and every moment,” he added.

Jordan has quite a significant amount of experience for England at the international level as well. The Barbados-born cricketer has thus far played eight Tests, 31 ODIs and 35 T20Is for the Three Lions. However, his Test and ODI career came to a halt in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

Of late, Jordan plies his trade only in the T20 format for the Poms. He last played the 20-overs match against Sri Lanka in Colombo where he picked up a couple of wickets, conceding 29 runs. The decent spell of fast bowling also helped his team win the off-off T20I by 30 runs.
