A fan’s desperate attempt to take a stunner on the sidelines of the ongoing clash between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League (BBL) on Sunday ended in a hilarious manner. The incident happened in the 15th over of the Brisbane Heat innings when their skipper Chris Lynn decided to hit Cameron Boyce for a biggie.

Boyce bowled a flighted delivery, inviting Lynn to go for the big shot and the hard-hitting batsman duly obliged. He came dancing down the track and lifted the ball high over the bowler’s head. It was sailing high in the sky and with the sun bright and up, even lost sight for a while.

The focus soon shifted to a fan who was determined to catch the ball. In doing so, he ran across the sight-screen. He had his eyes glued on the ball, however, his attempt took a tumble as he lost his footing at the last moment and slipped, leaving the commentators in stitches.

Fortunately, the ball did not land on his face or head and crashed just near him. Having failed to grab it despite an incredible attempt he stood up and made his way to the stands.

Just a couple of days ago, Heat star Ben Cutting had suffered a mishap after the ball landed directly on his face while he was trying to take a catch. The hit left him with a bloodied forehead but the fan luckily managed to avoid such a mishap.

Here is the video of his hilarious attempt:

Heat pile up big:

Heat’s ‘Bash Brothers’ were in full flow as the Brisbane-based outfit posted a daunting 192 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs. Brendon McCullum (69) and Lynn (66 not out) were in their elements and fired their side to a huge total. 19-year-old Max Bryant set the tone by scoring 44 off just 24 deliveries. Lynn and McCullum then shared an 89-run stand for the second wicket to guide Heat to the big total.

Harry Gurney and Dan Christian were the most successful bowlers for the Renegades, picking up two wickets each.
