The Hobart Hurricanes have arguably been the best team in this edition’s Big Bash League (BBL), With nine victories from 11 matches, they have dominated most teams and have qualified for the next round. Their next match is scheduled tomorrow against defending champions Adelaide Strikers at the Aurora Stadium in Launceston. Their aim would now be to end the league phase on top of the table.

Their last win against Brisbane Heat by nine wickets would keep them in good stead ahead of the next match. The Strikers, on the contrary, aren’t in the greatest of shapes and are at the sixth position with only four wins. Another defeat would knock them out of the championship. The Strikers lost their last four matches and are in dire need of a win in order to keep themselves alive in the tournament.

Pitch and Conditions

The venue has only been a witness to one encounter between the Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers and it turned out to be pretty one-sided. Moreover, batsmen found it tough to score runs as 217 runs were possible in almost 38 overs. Teams are likely to bat first after winning the toss.

Team Combinations

Hobart Hurricanes

D’Arcy Short and Matthew Wade are in the form of their life and they would need to deliver. Caleb Jewell and Ben McDermott would bat at number three and four. The very experienced George Bailey and Simon Milenko are the men in the middle order. Faulkner and Archer are no mugs with the bat. Both would also be needed with the ball. Rose, Moody and Freeman are the other bowling options.
