The Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat are scheduled to lock horns in the first of tomorrow’s doubleheader at the Adelaide Oval. And both teams find themselves in a tricky situation, languishing at the bottom half of the points table in this edition’s Big Bash League (BBL). The Heat easily rolled over Ashton Turner-led Perth Scorchers by six wickets at The Gabba and they would be a confident bunch.
It’s a do-or-die situation as they are still in with a chance of sneaking through to the semis based on their Net Run Rate that is -0.176. The Strikers also need to win the match if they don’t want NRR to come to the equation for them. The hosts showed urgency in their last match against Hobart Hurricanes and won the encounter by seven wickets and would need to show the same spirit in their next game as well.
Pitch and Conditions
The pitch at the Adelaide Oval has been fairly good for batting as scores have mostly been above the 150-run mark in this edition’s BBL. Hence, batting second seems to be the most judicious option for the time being. There isn’t any chance of rain and temperature is also expected to hover around the 25 degrees mark with some breeze around, adding to the comfort of the players.
Team Combination
Adelaide Strikers
Wicketkeeper Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald are the openers with Jake Lehmann at number three. The onus would be on skipper Colin Ingram and Jonathan Wells in the middle order with Harry Nielsen to bat at number six. Cameron Valente, Michael Neser and Rashid Khan would also be needed to play their parts, being genuine all-rounders. Ben Laughlin and Wes Agar are the other bowling options.
Probable XI
Alex Carey (wk), Jake Weatherald, Jake Lehmann, Colin Ingram (C), Jonathan Wells, Harry Nielsen, Cameron Valente, Michael Neser, Rashid Khan, Ben Laughlin, Wes Agar

Right-arm speedster Josh Lalor is in decent form with the leather as well.
