The Perth Scorchers have had a torrid time in the 2019-20 edition of the BBL. Barring their victory over cellar dwellers Melbourne Renegades, Mitchell Marsh and Co have looked hapless. In their last match, the Sydney Sixers beat them by 48 runs. To make things worse, the Scorchers have a net run rate of -1.353, the worst among the teams. They are currently placed seventh in the points table.

Marsh and Co are next scheduled to lock horns with Brisbane Heat at the Carrara Oval in Queensland. Meanwhile, Chris Lynn’s Heat will be playing after a nine-day break. In their last encounter, the Heat took down the Sydney Sixers courtesy Lynn’s blistering 94. On head-to-head, the Heat are ahead with a 6-5 lead and they have also emerged victorious in their last three games.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the venue is fairly good for batting, but the bowlers have also reaped benefits out of the strip. In the last couple of encounters, the team, batting first came out trumps. The Scorchers may not wish to chase after losing both their matches. The conditions will be fairly clear with no chances of rain during game-time. The temperature will be around 25 degrees with the humidity in the 60s.

Team Conditions

Brisbane Heat

Tom Banton has come back from the hospital and he has replaced Mitchell Swepson in the 13-man squad. Swepson has joined the Australia team for the Sydney Test. Banton’s inclusion will strengthen their batting. Matt Renshaw has also been in good touch, having scored 125 at 62.50. In Swepson’s absence, Matt Kuhnemann is likely to get a chance. A lot will depend on chinaman Zahir Khan.

Probable XI

Tom Banton, Max Bryant, Chris Lynn (C), Matt Renshaw, Jimmy Pierson (wk), Sam Heazlett, Ben Cutting, Josh Lalor, Matt Kuhnemann, Ben Laughlin, Zahir Khan

Perth Scorchers

The Scorchers’ batting has blown hot and cold. Mitchell Marsh and Liam Livingstone are leading the run-charts with 119 and 100 runs respectively. The rest of the batters haven’t been consistent. Chris Jordan has been the leader of the pack in the bowling area. He has seven wickets at an economy of eight. Fawad Ahmed has also been economical, and it’s time for the others to step up and deliver.

Probable XI

Liam Livingstone, Josh Inglis (wk), Cameron Bancroft, Mitchell Marsh (C), Cameron Green, Ashton Turner, Ashton Turner, Ashton Agar, Chris Jordan, Jhye Richardson, Matthew Kelly, Fawad Ahmed
