Josh Phillipe ended his streak of low scores with an unbeaten 85 against Adelaide Strikers as the Sydney Sixers cruised to a 7-wicket win. As many as four players got 25+ runs for the Strikers but none except Jonathan Wells (40*) got past 30-run mark. As a result, the Strikers settled down with 176/6 despite a decent start. Phillipe produced a gem of an innings in the tricky chase even smashing Rashid Khan who possessed to be a threat to other batters. He shared 50+ partnerships for the first two wickets and ensured Sixers got home comfortably.

A big chase against Strikers:

177 – The 177-run chase by Sydney Sixers was the joint 2nd highest chase in the Big Bash League against the Adelaide Strikers. Brisbane Heat chased down 186 in a last-ball thriller in 2012-13 season and also 177 in the 2018-19 edition.


A hat-trick for Sixers over the Strikers:

3 – The Sydney Sixers has won each of their last three BBL matches against the Strikers; all the three coming while chasing a target. Before this 7-wicket win, the Sixers beat the Strikers by 6 wickets and 8 wickets respectively in the 2018-19 season matches at the Adelaide Oval and in Sydney respectively.


Another big knock for Philippe:

3 – Josh Philippe now has recorded three 80+ scores in the Big Bash League; the most by any player for the Sydney Sixers. He also has the highest individual BBL score for the Sixers of 86* in the previous edition. His 83* against Strikers is now the 5th highest BBL score for the Sixers.


Carey @ 1000:

1006 – Alex Carey is now one of the 34 players to have aggregated 1000 runs in the Big Bash League. He is only the 3rd player to have scored 1000 BBL runs for the Adelaide Strikers. Travis Head and Jake Weatherald have scored 1051 and 1047 runs respectively for the Strikers.


Hazlewood returns to BBL:

5y 334d – Josh Hazlewood featured in a Big Bash League game for the first time in nearly 6 years. His last appearance came way back in February 2014 which was 5 years and 334 days ago. Only Nick Buchanan is the only other player who spent more than five years between his two BBL appearances.

In fact, Hazlewood’s last appearance in a Twenty20 match was way back in March 2016 during the WT20 match against India.
