Sydney Sixers made it 2-0 against the Adelaide Strikers in the BBL 2019-20 as they clinched a 2-wicket win in a low-scoring thriller. The Strikers were restricted to just 135 as they lost their last 8 wickets for just 56 runs. The Sixers started the chase well before Rashid Khan, in his 200th Twenty20 game, claimed a 4-wicket haul that included a hat-trick. His bowling performance left Sixers 7 down for 97 in the 15 overs. Tom Curran’s 20-ball 21 and Josh Hazlewood’s hat-trick fours, in the end, helped Sixers chase down the total with 8 balls to spare.

All the statistical highlights from Sydney Sixers’ 2-wicket win over the Adelaide Strikers:

Another win for Sixers against the Strikers:

4 – The Sydney Sixers now has defeated Adelaide Strikers in each of their last four meetings in the BBL; all four while chasing a target. The Sixers beat the Strikers by 6 wickets and 8 wickets respectively in the 2018-19 season and won by a 7-wicket margin on Sunday.

5 – The Sixers have won 5 of their eight matches at the Adelaide Oval against the Strikers. No other team has won as many matches against the Strikers in the BBL at this venue.

A record hat-trick for Rashid:

1Rashid Khan became the first overseas bowler to take a hat-trick in the Big Bash League. He is also the first Adelaide Strikers’ bowler with a BBL hat-trick. Overall, this was the 5th hat-trick recorded in the BBL.

Xavier Doherty took a hat-trick for the Hurricanes against Thunder in 2012-13 while Scorchers’ Andrew Tye took hat-tricks against Heat and Sixers in 2016-17 and 2017-18 respectively. The last hat-trick was taken by Josh Lalor for the Brisbane Heat against Scorchers in the previous edition.

3 – The hat-trick against Sixers was the 3rd in the Twenty20 format for Rashid Khan as he took a CPL hat-trick in 2017 and claimed 4 wickets in as many balls in a T20I against Ireland last year. Rashid thus became only the 5th bowler to claim three hat-tricks in the T20 format. Amit Mishra, Andrew Tye, Andre Russell and Mohammad Sami are the other four players with 3 T20 hat-tricks.

Rashid only next to Malinga in bowled and LBWs:

151 – Rashid Khan now has claimed 151 wickets via bowled and LBW in the T20 format out of his 284 career wickets. Only Lasith Malinga (185) has picked more T20 wickets via bowled/LBW than Rashid.

A rare 4-fer for Rashid Khan:

4/22 – The 4/22 by Rashid in this match are the 2nd best bowling figures by any player for the Adelaide Strikers. Ish Sodhi took 6/11 against the Sydney Thunder back in the 2016-17 season. Ben Laughlin’s 4/26 in the 2017-18 season also against Thunder is the only other BBL 4-fer by a Strikers’ bowler.

1 – Rashid Khan’s 4/22 in the game against Sixers was his maiden 4-wicket haul in an overseas T20 league. Prior to this game, Rashid had seven 4-wicket hauls out of which five came in the T20Is. He had one 4-fer each in the Shpageeza Cricket League and Afghanistan Premier League.

Weatherald goes past Travis:

1094 – Jake Weatherland became the leading run-getter for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League by going past Travis Head (1051). Weatherald needed only 5 runs to go past Travis before the game.

Neser and Rashid move in wicket-takers charts:
