Melbourne Renegades’ losing streak extended to eight as the Melbourne Stars registered their 5th consecutive win with a 7-wicket win on Friday in the Melbourne Derby. Shaun Marsh (63 off 43) and Marcus Harris (42 off 32) gave the much-needed start for the Renegades who missed the acceleration in last four overs and settled with 168/7.
The Stars were three down for 54 runs by the seventh over with Marcus Stoinis scoring a duck in the very first over. However, skipper Glenn Maxwell found support in Nick Larkin (33* off 28) after coming out to bat at No.5. Maxwell smashed an unbeaten 45-ball 83 with seven sixes as the Stars finished off the chase with eight balls to spare.

8* – Melbourne Renegades have won all the 8 matches they played in this 2019-20 BBL season. This is the joint-longest losing streak for any team in a Big Bash season. The Sydney Thunder lost all the eight matches they played during the 2012-13 season.
5* – Only the 2nd time the Melbourne Stars have won five or more consecutive matches in the Big Bash League. They won all the 8 matches in the league phase of the 2013-14 BBL edition.

13 – Melbourne Stars have defeated the Melbourne Renegades on 13 occasions in the Big Bash League till date; the most number of wins for any team against an opponent in the BBL. The two sides have met in 18 BBL matches with the Renegades winning in five of them.
7-2 – The Stars have defeated Renegades in seven of the nine meetings in the BBL at the Docklands Stadium; by far the most successful visiting team at this venue in the league. Stars won six consecutive BBL matches at this ground before losing the last season’s final by 13 runs.

83* – Glenn Maxwell’s 83 in this game is his joint 2nd highest individual score in the BBL. His highest of 84 came during the 2017-18 season against the Sydney Sixers. Maxwell scored 83 against Brisbane Heat in their first match of this season.

7 – Number of sixes Glenn Maxwell struck during his unbeaten 83 on Friday; the 2nd most sixes in a BBL inning by a player for the Melbourne Stars. Luke Wright hit as many as nine maximums during his 117-run knock against the Hurricanes in the 2011-12 season.
306 – Maxwell became only the 16th player to 300 sixes in the Twenty20 history with the first of the seven maximums against Renegades. He is only the 4th player with this feat after Shane Watson, Aaron Finch and David Warner.

115* – The unbeaten 115-run stand between Glenn Maxwell and Nick Larkin is Melbourne Stars’ maiden century stand for the 4th wicket in the Big Bash League. Overall, this is the 4th highest partnership in the BBL for the 4th wicket. The previous highest 4th wicket stand for the Stars in the BBL was 80 between David Hussey and George Bailey in the 2011-12 edition.
