The record winning streak of Melbourne Stars finally came to an end on Monday when the Sydney Sixers clinched a rain-affected match at the SCG. The home team skipper Moises Henriques smashed eight sixes and two fours on his way to a 31-ball 72. He shared a 114-run partnership with James Vince (41* off 22) for the 3rd wicket from only 8.2 overs as the Sixers finished with 143/4 in the restricted 14 overs.

Chasing a revised target of 147, Marcus Stoinis got a 37-ball 62 while his opening partner made 21 off 10 balls. No other player achieved an SR over 100 after facing a couple of balls other than these two in the chase. As a result, the Stars had to finish the 14 overs at 125/5 only.

8 – The defeat in this match brought an end to Melbourne Stars’ 8-match winning streak. This is the joint-longest winning streak for any team in the Big Bash League. The Melbourne Stars won 8 consecutive matches during the 2013-14 edition of BBL.


A day of records for Moises Henriques:

8 – Number of sixes Moises Henriques struck during his 72-run knock; the most number of sixes in a BBL inning for the Sydney Sixers. The previous most sixes in a BBL inning for the Sixers was 6 sixes by Nic Maddinson against the Melbourne Renegades in 2014-15 season.


232.25 – Henriques had a batting strike rate of 232.25 during his 31-ball 72; the 2nd highest strike rate for the Sixers in a BBL inning. Nic Maddinson’s 61 off 26 balls also against the Stars was scored at a strike rate of 234.61 during the 2017-18 season.


55 – With those 8 sixes in this match, Henriques also became the 2nd player to hit 50 BBL sixes for the Sydney Sixers. Nic Maddinson has hit 57 maximums in the BBL for the Sixers across 56 matches.


Henriques goes past Aaron Finch:

27 – Moises Henriques is now the most successful captain in the history of the Big Bash League as he led the Sydney Sixers to win in 27 out of 54 games as captain. He went past Aaron Finch’s tally of 26 wins across the 54 BBL matches as Melbourne Renegades’ skipper.

6 – Number of fifty-plus scores for Marcus Stoinis in this tournament; the joint-most 50+ scores by a player in a BBL season. Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short struck six fifties apiece in the 2018-19 season for the Hobart Hurricanes across 15 innings.


583 – Marcus Stoinis’ 583 runs in this tournament are the 3rd most by any player in a Big Bash League season. Only D’Arcy Short (637 runs in 2018-19) and Matthew Wade (592 runs in 2018-19) aggregated more runs in a BBL than Stoinis.

These are also most runs in a BBL season for the Stars surpassing 533 by Stoinis himself in 2018-19. Glenn Maxwell’s 353 runs in the ongoing tournament are the 3rd most runs in a BBL edition for the Stars.
