Perth Scorchers moved back into the top four in the points table with a comfortable 8-wicket win against the Sydney Thunder. Alex Hales lacked support from the other end as he scored 85 off 59 deliveries with 13 boundaries but the Thunder posted only 153/5 in their 20 overs. The opening pair of Josh Inglis (58 off 41) and Liam Livingstone (78 off 49) shared yet another century stand in a run-chase. The duo put on 136 in only 13.2 overs as the Scorchers chased down the target losing only eight wickets and with 27 balls to spare.

Scorchers end their streak against Thunder:

3 – This was Perth Scorchers’ first win in the last four matches in the BBL against the Sydney Thunder. The Scorchers lost each of their previous three BBL matches against Thunder before this win.

Overall, this was Scorchers’ 6th win 10 BBL meetings against Thunder. Interestingly, Thunder won the toss/bat flip in all these ten meetings against Scorchers.

27 – Perth Scorchers chased down the target of 154 with 27 balls to spare. This is the first time that the Scorchers completed a 150+ chase with more than 10 balls to spare. Overall, this were the 5th biggest BBL win for the Scorchers in terms of balls to spare.


Yet another 100-run opening stand for the Scorchers:

3 – Liam Livingstone and Josh Inglis have shared three-century partnerships in the ongoing edition of BBL. No other pair have had more than one 100-run stand in this season.


Alex Hales goes past Jos Buttler:

339 – Runs Alex Hales has amassed in this Big Bash League season; the first overseas player with 100+ runs in a BBL season for the Sydney Thunder. The previous most runs by an overseas player in a BBL for the Thunder was 273 runs by Jos Buttler in the 2018-19 edition.


85 – Hales’ 85-run knock is now the 2nd highest score for the Sydney Thunder in Perth. Callum Ferguson smashed 113* in the last edition which is also the highest BBL score for Thunder.


A series to remember for Josh Inglis:

382 – Josh Inglis has aggregated 382 runs across 12 innings in this tournament; the 3rd most by a wicketkeeper in a single edition of BBL. Matthew Wade amassed 592 runs in 15 matches during the previous edition while Alex Carey scored 443 runs in 2017-18 season from only 11 innings.


10 – Number of dismissals as wicketkeeper for Inglis in this season; the joint-most by a Scorchers’ skipper in a BBL edition. Sam Whiteman also affected 10 dismissals as a Scorchers’ keeper in the 2014/15 season.


Alex Ross @ 1000:

1004 – Alex Ross completed 1000 runs in the Big Bash League when he went past his individual score of 18 in this game. He is now one of the 36 players to aggregate 1000+ runs in the BBL.
