Brisbane Heat opened their points tally with a 48-run win against Sydney Sixers as their skipper Chris Lynn came up with an outrageous knock. Chris Lynn smashed 11 sixes and 4 fours during his 94 which came in only 35 deliveries. He nearly completed his hundred in the 10th over while trying for 12th six. Matt Renshaw scored an unbeaten 60 to push Brisbane Heat’s total to 209/4. The Sixers never found momentum in the chase and settled down to 161/7.

All the statistical highlights from Brisbane Heat’s big win against the Sydney Sixers:

A rare win for the Brisbane Heat over Sydney Sixers:

2 – Only the 2nd time the Brisbane Heat have defeated the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League; the fewest number of wins for the Heat against any opponent in the league. The Sixers have lost at least five matches every team in the BBL other than Heat.

The other win for the Heat over Sixers came in the 2015-16 season by a 6-run margin at the SCG. The 2016-17 semi-final between these two sides ended in a Tie and the Sixers later won the Super Over.

End of Sydney Sixers’ streak at home:

5 – Sydney Sixers won each of their last five BBL matches at the Sydney Cricket Ground before this defeat. Their last defeat at this venue came against Melbourne Renegades while defending 115. Prior to this match, the Sixers won each of their last seven BBL games while chasing a target.

Record total by Brisbane Heat:

209/4 – The total of 209/4 by Brisbane Heat is their joint-highest total in the Big Bash League. They posted 209/3 in the 2013-14 season against Hobart Hurricanes but lost the game by three wickets.

209/4 – Brisbane’s 209/4 is also the highest total against the Sydney Sixers in the BBL. The previous highest BBL total against the Sixers was 202/5 by the Sydney Thunder in the 2015-16 season.

221/5 – The only total in the Twenty20 format at the SCG which is higher than Heat’s 209/4 is Australia’s 221/5 against England in 2007. Brisbane Heat’s total is also the highest BBL total at the SCG surpassing Thunder’s 202/5 against Sixers in 2015-16.

Chris Lynn’s boundary hitting spree:

11 – Number of sixes Chris Lynn has hit during his 94-run knock; the joint-most number of sixes hit by any player in a Big Bash League innings. Chris Gayle during his unbeaten 100 for Sydney Thunder against Adelaide Strikers in 2011-12, Craig Simmons for Perth Scorchers during his 112 against Sydney Sixers in 2014-15 and Lynn against Perth Scorchers during his 98* in the 2016-17 season also struck 11 sixes in a BBL inning.

A quick-fire fifty by Lynn:

20 – Chris Lynn completed his fifty in 20 deliveries; the 3rd time he has completed a fifty in the BBL in 20 or fewer balls. No other player in the BBL has more than one fifty coming in 20 or fewer balls. This is the 10th fifty in the history of Big Bash League coming in 20 or lesser balls; six of them by Brisbane Heat player.

268.57 – Lynn had a strike rate of 268.57 during his 35-ball 94; the 2nd highest strike rate in a Big Bash league innings of 25+ balls or 75+ runs. Ben Cutting had an SR of 270 during his 81* off 30 balls in the last season’s match against Melbourne Stars.

Chris Lynn @ 2000:

2054 – Chris Lynn became the first player to complete 2000 runs in the Big Bash League when on 40. As many as five players got 2000 runs in the WBBL thus far but none before Lynn in the Men’s league.
