Adelaide Strikers moved back to top four in the points table with a huge 60-run victory over Melbourne Renegades at the Adelaide Oval. The home team lost four wickets for 72 runs on the board but Jake Weatherald (51 off 25) and Ryan Gibson (43* off 31) added 96 runs for the 5th wicket in only 8.4 overs as Strikers finished with 171/5. Renegades were placed at 67/1 in the 10th over with four runs away from securing a Bash Boost point. The wicket of Sam Harper in that over triggered yet another collapse of Renegades who were bowled out for 111 losing their last nine wickets for 44 runs.

Strikers’ winning streak against Renegades:

4 – Adelaide Strikers have won each of their last four matches in the BBL they played against Melbourne Renegades. All the four wins of Strikers in this streak came while defending a target. In fact, Strikers batted first in all the seven meetings against Renegades since the start of 2017-18 season where they ended up winning six matches.

60 – The 60-run win during STR vs REN game is now the 5th biggest win for the Adelaide Strikers in terms of runs. This is also the 4th biggest win for the Strikers at the Adelaide Oval and their 3rd largest win in terms of runs against the Renegades.

Strikers have won a total of nine matches against the Renegades out of the 13 meetings which are the joint-most number of victories for them against any team in the league history.


Renegades bowled out yet again:

4 – Melbourne Renegades now have been bowled out as many as four times in the ongoing BBL season including sub-100 totals on three occasions. They are only the 2nd team after Brisbane Heat (2019-20) to be all out on four or more instances in a BBL edition.


A big stand between Gibson and Weatherald:

96 – The 96-run partnership between Ryan Gibson and Jake Weatherald is now the 2nd biggest for Adelaide Strikers for the 5th or a lower wicket in the BBL. The highest is 115 between the duo of Brad Hodge and Alex Ross also for the 5th wicket in the 2015-16 season game against Melbourne Stars.


A quick-fire fifty from Weatherald:

52 – Jake Weatherald’s 52 is now only the 2nd fifty recorded for the Adelaide Strikers while batting at No.6 position. Alex Ross was the first player to do so who made 65 off 31 balls against Melbourne Stars in the 2015-16 season. Weatherald is also the first player to score a fifty in the BBL while batting at No.6 against the Melbourne Renegades.

  


Record duck for Finch:

4 – Aaron Finch now has four ducks in the BBL; all while playing for the Melbourne Renegades. These are now the joint-most ducks for any player in the BBL for Renegades alongside Sam Harper (4) and Tom Cooper (4).


Rashid and Siddle’s success in Adelaide:

33 – Number of wickets for both Peter Siddle and Rashid Khan in the Big Bash League at the Adelaide Oval. Siddle took three wickets while Rashid claimed one scalp during the STR vs REN game. These are the most number of BBL wickets for any player at the Adelaide Oval alongside Ben Laughlin (33).
