Perth Scorchers recorded their 3rd successive win of the BBL 2020-21 as they thumped the Sydney Sixers by a huge 86-run margin. Scorchers made only 99/3 in 14 overs despite Colin Munro’s 34-ball 50. But Mitchell Marsh turned the game into home team’s favour with an unbeaten 57 in only 27 balls. Scorchers ended with 183/4 by scoring 84 runs in the last six overs with help of Marsh’s effort. A collective effort from the Perth bowlers saw the Sixers rolling out for 97 in 16.4 overs.

Sixers succumb to a low total:

97 – The total of 97 is now the 3rd lowest total for Sydney Sixers in the BBL and their lowest against Perth Scorchers. Their previous lowest BBL total against Scorchers was 99/10 which came in the 2014-15 season at the SCG.


A big defeat for the Sixers:

86 – The 86-run defeat during SCO vs SIX game is now the 2nd biggest loss in terms of runs for the Sydney Sixers. Their biggest defeat came against Melbourne Stars by 94 runs in the 2018-19 season.

11Perth Scorchers now have won as many as 11 matches in the BBL against the Sydney Sixers including one win coming via Super Over. The Sixers have managed to defeat Scorchers only on six instances.


A record treble for Mitchell Marsh:

1 – Mitchell Marsh became the first player from Perth Scorchers to complete the treble of 50+ runs, 1+ wickets and 1+ catches in the same BBL match. This treble by Marsh was achieved on 15 occasions by 11 different players before him but none did it while playing for the Scorchers. The younger Marsh brother scored an unbeaten 57 with the bat before taking the catch of Joshua Philippe and the wicket of Jordan Silk.

9 – Number of fifties in the BBL for Mitchell Marsh; all while representing the Perth Scorchers. These are now the 2nd most fifty-plus scores by any player for the Scorchers behind Shaun Marsh’s 14 fifties.


Yet another 4-wicket haul for Tye:

6 – Andrew Tye now has claimed as many as six 4-wicket hauls including a fifer in the Big Bash League. No player other than Tye has picked more than four 4-wicket hauls in the BBL thus far.

4/20 – Tye’s bowling figures of 4/20 are now the best for the Scorchers in the BBL against the Sixers surpassing his figures of 4/21 in the 2017-18 season at the SCG.

  

19 – Andrew Tye has bagged a total of 19 wickets against Sydney Sixers in the BBL; the most by any player against the Sixers going past Ben Laughlin’s 16 scalps. Tye is also the 2nd player after Josh Lalor to bag multiple 4-fers in the BBL.


Ducks galore for the Sixers:

4 – A total of four batsmen got dismissed for a duck during Sydney Sixers’ innings; the first such instance for them in the Big Bash League. It is overall the 8th instance of four or more ducks in a team inning in the BBL history. The SCO vs SIX game is also the first instance of Perth Scorchers dismissing as many as four opposition batsmen for a duck.
