Sydney Sixers kept their winning streak intact at the Carrara Oval as they pulled off a thrilling win against Brisbane Heat on Sunday. Chris Lynn’s 44-ball 56 was the major contribution to Brisbane’s total of 148 who lost their last six wickets for only 38 runs in the final five overs. In reply, Sixers were four wickets down for 54 by the 9th over but their skipper Daniel Hughes scored a 35-ball 51 by adding 72 runs for the 5th wicket with Daniel Christian. A couple of more wickets towards the end put Sixers under pressure but Christian sealed a win on the final ball with an unbeaten 61 off 38 balls.

A close win for the Sixers:

1 – Brisbane Heat has lost a BBL match for the first time where the opposition chased down the target on the final ball or penultimate delivery of the match. Their previous narrowest defeat in terms of balls to spare in the BBL was two balls – against Melbourne Stars in 2013-14 and Sydney Sixers in 2016-17.

3 – This match is also the 3rd instance of Sydney Sixers reaching the target on the final ball of a BBL game. The first such match was against Sydney Thunder 2014-15 while chasing 155. They also defeated Thunder on the final ball while chasing 148 in the 2017-18 season which is the last instance of a team chasing down the target on the final ball of the match.


Sixers get the better of Heat:

11 – Sydney Sixers have defeated Brisbane Heat on 11 occasions in the BBL including one win coming in the Super Over. These are the most number of defeats for Heat against any opposition alongside 11 against Hobart Hurricanes.


Christian joins an elite list:

5 – Daniel Christian completed the double of 5000+ runs and 250+ wickets in Twenty20 cricket during the SIX vs HEA game. Christian is now only the 5th player in the history of the Twenty20 format to achieve this double after Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, and Shakib Al Hasan. Christian completed the milestones of 5000 runs and also 250 wickets during the SIX vs HEA match only.

1 – Christian became the first player to score 2000+ runs and also pick 100+ wickets in the T20 format in a country. He completed 2000 T20 runs in Australia on Sunday going along with his 110 scalps in the country.

Overall, he is the 9th player with a double of 2000+ runs and 100+ wickets in T20s in a country. Christian is the 2nd Australian to do so after Shane Watson who achieved the double in India.


Lynn’s record fifty:

21 – Chris Lynn now has 21 fifty-plus scores in the BBL which are the most by any player surpassing 20 each by Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch. Lynn is also the 2nd player after Shaun to hit 20 fifties in the BBL.

  


A record treble by Christian:

3 – Daniel Christian is only the 3rd player to score a fifty, pick a wicket, and also take a catch in the same BBL match twice. He affected this treble during the 2013-14 season for Brisbane Heat against Hobart Hurricanes. Glenn Maxwell (4) and D’Arcy Short (2) are the other two players with this treble twice.


Pierson @ 1000 runs:

1005 – Jimmy Peirson completed 1000 runs in the Big Bash League when he went past his individual score of 11. He is the 4th player after Chris Lynn, Ben Cutting, and Joe Burns to complete 1000 BBL runs for Brisbane Heat.
