BBL 2021-22: Melbourne Stars vs Perth Scorchers clash to take place despite Covid-19 scare

Melbourne Stars have been allowed to fill in players from local cricket and proceed with the clash.

Despite the Covid-19 scare, the Big Bash League (BBL) encounter between the Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers will take place on 2nd January 2022.

Three players have tested positive for Covid-19, and as of now, a total of 10 players have been infected with Covid-19 in the Melbourne Stars camp. Also, the team has been allowed to fill in players from local cricket and proceed with the clash.

The official Twitter handle of Melbourne Stars also thanked Cricket Australia for making sure that the clash between the Stars and the Scorchers will take place as per schedule.

“The Melbourne Stars can confirm a further 3 players have returned a positive test for COVID-19. The Stars would like to thank Cricket Australia in ensuring that tomorrow’s match against the Perth Scorchers at the CitiPower Centre will still take place,” tweeted the official Twitter handle of Melbourne Stars.

Also, the General Manager of the Melbourne Stars side, Blair Crouch stated that his thoughts are with the players who have tested positive for Covid-19. Crouch also added that he would like to thank the medical staff of Cricket Australia for their support, and concluded by stating that the Stars will take the field for the clash against the Perth Scorchers.

“Our thoughts are with our players who have tested positive today and we wish them a speedy recovery. Thanks to the medical teams at Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia for their ongoing support under difficult circumstances.

“Despite all the challenges over the last few days, we look forward to taking the field tomorrow at CitiPower Centre to play in front of our members and fans,” concluded Blair Crouch.
