The battle of the bottom-placed teams went down the wire, with Chris Lynn scoring a century to take his team close but eventually losing at the end.

The day was set for an action packed game. Tim Paine won the toss and decided to bat first. Skipper Paine and Ben Dunk started the game on a quick note, hammering the loose ones and pouncing on the run scoring one. The duo built a solid stand of 50 runs before Dunk found Simmons at deep midwicket. Samuel Badree picked a wicket in his first over and tried to squeeze the run rate to an extent.

He then got the price scalp of Paine, after the bowler missed out on a caught and bowl chance in the same over. Kumar Sangakkara and George Bailey took the game from there on scoring runs at a good rate. He then got the price scalp of Paine, after the bowler missed out on a caught and bowl chance in the same over. Sangakkara and Bailey took the game from there on scoring runs at a good rate.

Luke Feldman’s third over came a breather for the bowling side, as the former Sri Lankan batter was cleaned up by a lethal yorker. Hurricanes’ batsmen got starts but failed to convert, as Bailey too soon lost his stay, with the scoreboard reading 127/4. It was over to Daniel Christian from there on.

He first hammered a length ball out of the park for a six, that went a massive 117 metres. And followed it up with another whack to the spectators stand, this one going 112 metres. Poor Luke Feldman bowled another dolly, this one turned into a waist high full toss but the batter smashed this one for six too, making it three for the over. He brought up his half-century in just 21 balls and provided a much needed push to the run rate.

Hobart finished at 194/4 in 20 overs, as the batters did well to come together and pile up an impressive total. Chasing 195 to win, Brisbane Heat lost both their openers within the first two overs. At 7/2, the onus was on skipper Chris Lynn to bail out his team once again. Lynn smashed a six to the first tier, giving Christian a dose of his own medicine, and belted a flat hit off Rose, as the umpire did well to get out of the way.

Sam Heazlett batted beautifully, giving ample support to his skipper, as Heat faced a daunting task. Brisbane were left with 109 runs from 11 overs at an asking rate of 9.55 at the time Heazlett lost his wicket. Lynn kept on going about his business, hitting two towering sixes and a boundary in the 11th over of the innings. Lynn brought up his fifty from 26 balls, and the Heats were closing on the asking rate. The skipper went on to hit seven sixes and five boundaries, guiding his team close and reaching his century in just 48 balls.

38 runs were needed from 17 balls, and it was Boyce, who removed the dangerous Lynn from the crease with a flighted ball, as Lynn ended up getting stumped. Boyce kept it sharp and close, but Cutting plundered a smart six to close in the difference.

Reed bowled a good penultimate over, and the Heats were left wanting. With 23 runs to get from 6 balls, the match was well out of Heats hand. The Hurricanes wrapped up the proceedings, winning the game by 15 runs
