We got a cracker on our hands in the 3rd clash of the 7th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) with the Hobart Hurricanes taking on the Melbourne Renegades in an all-star outing which promises to be a nail-biting clash on December 21st.

The Hurricanes are led by one of the most popular and exciting cricketers George Bailey at the helm. He will be eager to better their disappointing league finish of 7th on both previous occasions and gun for glory. The Melbourne Renegades, on the other hand, enjoy the leadership of one of the most big-hitting and inspiring batsmen ever in the form of Australian opener Aaron Finch.

Here’s what we, at CricTracker predict will be the final result-

First Innings Prediction: 150-160

Result Prediction: Hurricanes win by 10 runs.

Scenario 2: Melbourne Renegades win the toss

Result Prediction: Melbourne Renegades win by 6 wickets

Head to Head Record

Total matches played – 6, Hobart Hurricanes – 2, Melbourne Renegades won – 4, No Result/ Tied – 0.

The Hobart Hurricanes enjoy a squad which is full of domestic and T20 International performers and will be eager to perform much better than their league position during the last 2 seasons when the finished 7th in an extremely disappointing conclusion to their campaigns on both the occasions. An early victory will certainly do them a world of good and add some much-needed confidence back in the team.

The Melbourne Renegades, on the other hand, will be gunning for their first ever BBL title having failed to clinch the much-coveted trophy so far. They finished 5th out of the 8 teams on the last two occasions which certainly does them no justice considering the talent and potential they enjoy. An exciting clash between two top quality outfits awaits us.

Hobart Hurricanes

The Hurricanes have been extremely inactive in the transfer window so far which indicates an immense level of trust and belief in retaining the core and not tampering with the team chemistry. This certainly seems like a wise decision considering the wealth of talent they enjoy in the form of D’arcy Short, Ben McDermott and George Bailey. With quality all-rounders like Daniel Christian and Clive rose, star bowlers like Tymal Mills and Cameron Boyce, they certainly pose a pretty stern challenge. Tim Paine is an extremely effective and experienced gloveman himself which will pose a great threat to batsmen planning to sneak a run in.

 Squad:

George Bailey, James Bazley, Cameron Boyce, Dan Christian, Tom Curran, Hamish Kingston, Ben McDermott, Simon Milenko, Tymal Mills, David Moody, Tim Paine, Sam Rainbird, Jake Reed, Tom Rogers, Clive Rose, D’Arcy Short, Beau Webster

Overseas Players: Jofra Archer (WI), Tymal Mills (UK)

Melbourne Renegades

The Renegades have signed former player and T20 superstar Brad Hodge who is more than capable of deciding games on his own. One of the best at executing tactics to perfection, Hodge’s acquisition represents nothing short of a coup

Kane Richardson who finished as former club Adelaide Strikers’ second highest wicket-taker ever has also been signed up which is an extremely shrewd decision itself considering the pace and bounce he is capable of extracting.

The Renegades boast of an all-star bowling attack in the form of Kane Richardson, Brad Hogg, Jon Holland with quality rounders in Hodge, Kieron Pollard, Mohammad Nabi, Dwayne Bravo who can deceive even the best of batsmen and choke the flow of runs. With the likes of Aaron Finch, Tom Cooper, Marcus Harris, a quickfire salvo at the top of the order is guaranteed.

Squad: Aaron Finch, Dwayne Bravo, Tom Cooper, Marcus Harris, Brad Hodge, Brad Hogg, Jon Holland, Tim Ludeman, Joe Mennie, James Pattinson, Kane Richardson, Matthew Short, Chris Tremain, Matthew Wade, Guy Walker, Cameron White, Jack Wildermuth

Overseas Players: Dwayne Bravo (WI), Mohammad Nabi (AFG), Kieron Pollard (WI — international replacement)

The prediction is for the Hurricanes to win the game.
