The Perth Scorchers and the Adelaide Strikers have secured their places in the semi-final of the Big Bash League (BBL) 7 and their face off tomorrow is merely a dead rubber. However, considering the form these two teams have been in, it should be a cracker of a game. This is the return encounter between these two teams. They have already played a game this season which had ended in an easy win for the Scorchers. The Strikers will want to settle the scores before they march into the knockouts.
Pitch Report
The pitch at the WACA is traditionally the quickest pitch in Australia and arguably the quickest in the world as well. In the recent times, its pace has died down, but the fast bowlers still generate a fair bit of bounce and carry on it.
However, because there is not too much of lateral movement off the surface, the bounce on the wicket helps the batsmen to play their shots as well. They can trust the bounce and hit through the line. It’s generally a batting first wicket and the team winning the toss shouldn’t do any different.
Playing Combination
Perth Scorchers
The Scorchers have been strengthened as they have got Jhye Richardson back. Richardson hadn’t played the last game as he was on national duty, but he has re-joined the orange army and will pair Mitchell Johnson tomorrow with the new ball. Andrew Tye is, however, still with the Australian squad and the Scorchers will have to do without the services of the canny medium pacer who has been immensely fruitful for them with the ball in the middle phase of the innings.
Predicted XI: Adam Voges (C), Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Tim Bresnan, Hilton Cartwright, Tim David, Mitchell Johnson, Michael Klinger, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Turner, Sam Whiteman
Adelaide Strikers
The Strikers, on the other hand, have been slightly weakened by the departure of their captain Travis Head who is unavailable as he has gone back to join the Australian camp for the 4th ODI game against England. Also, the think tank has decided to keep Peter Siddle away from this game with the view of giving him a breather ahead of the semis which means the visitors will be taking field without two of their main players.
Predicted XI: Colin Ingram (C), Alex Carey, Wes Agar, Jono Dean, Rashid Khan, Ben Laughlin, Jake Lehmann, Michael Neser, Billy Stanlake, Kelvin Smith, Jake Weatherald
