Rashid Khan has taken giant strides ever since he made his debut at the highest level. The leg-spinner from Afghanistan has grown leaps and bounds and has been impressive in tournaments across the globe. He also plied his trade in Australia’s Big Bash League last season for the Adelaide Strikers and weaved magic with his guile and trajectory.

The Nangarhar-born bowler played 11 games in the event and garnered 18 wickets. Subsequently, he emerged as the highest wicket-taker in the season and the most economical bowler as well with a staggering economy rate of 5.65. Nevertheless, he missed the final against the Hobart Hurricanes, which the Strikers comprehensively won by 25 runs.

Recently, the tweaker has been declared the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Adelaide Strikers in an award ceremony by the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). He has been voted by his peers after which he was crowned with the award. However, he wasn’t present during the event and hence dropped a heartfelt message for the Strikers.

Here is the message

“Hi everyone, sorry I couldn’t be there tonight, but I’m really honoured and proud to be named the Striker’s most valuable player of the year and thanks to my teammates, coaching staff, management staff, and everyone there. I had some great memories last year, some wonderful time there and can’t wait to be back soon and play for the Strikers again, so thank you so much”

Rashid also took to Twitter and shared his excitement for being anointed with the award.

Here is the Tweet

Rashid is currently in Zimbabwe, where Afghanistan is taking part in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers. To multiply his joy, the national team has also qualified for the World Cup 2019 to be held next year in England and Wales. They defeated Ireland by five wickets in the Super Sixes and confirmed their qualification for the mega event. The leggie chipped in with three wickets for 40 runs in his quota.
