The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to donate BDT 2 crore to the Prime Minister’s Relief & Welfare Fund. They have taken this step forward to help the people affected by the recent flood across the country. The decision was taken on Monday, after the 18th meeting of BCB Board of Directors.

In Bangladesh, at least 134 people have died and more than 5.7 million were affected directly as monsoon flooding submerged more than a third of the low-lying and densely populated country. This is the first time the cricket board has donated such a huge amount to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

A few more decisions were taken at the meeting as well. The annual budget of the national board has been approved. According to bdcrictime, the next meeting now will be held on 30th September 2017.

Bangladesh on top in the first Test

The Bangladeshi national team on their part is making sure they keep their fans happy by playing some superb cricket. They are hosting the mighty Australians for two match Test series and are looking good thus far in the first Test. They managed a crucial first innings lead of 43 runs over the Aussies.

Having posted a 265-run target ahead of the Aussies in the final innings Bangladesh seems to be on the cusp of history as if they win the match it will be their first ever win over Australia in Tests. Currently, the visitors are off to a decent start having cleared off 50 runs from the target for the loss of 2 wickets.

Earlier in the Test, the hosts posted a competitive total of 260 in the opening innings thanks to half centuries from Tamim and Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib continued his good work with the ball as he scalped a 5-wicket haul to dismiss the visitors for a paltry 217.
