BCB will send security delegation to Pakistan for Women’s team tour: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will be sending a security team to Pakistan to assess the prevailing conditions of the nation before sending the Bangladeshi Women’s team there. The security team which will consist of two people is likely to visit Pakistan in the upcoming week while the Bangladesh Women’s tour of Pakistan is expected to take place later this year if the security of the country is found to be satisfactory by the security officials.

It is notable that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan has been making strenuous efforts to revive the game in the country. Last year, the PCB chairman had visited Bangladesh due to which there is possibility of this tour. The BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that, “Our security team will be going to Pakistan. We have informed our counterparts there, so it is in process. A date [of their departure] will be confirmed in a day or two. The tour could be in October.”
Although, this is not the first security step undertaken by the BCB about the proposed tour. Last week, they had also sent a letter to the Bangladesh High Commission in Pakistan so as to get a profound view in to the security situation. So, this security inspection is the second step.
He further said that, “They [PCB] have sent us a proposal. Our women’s team is getting restless to play abroad. Pakistan has given us an offer, we are thinking about it.”
“If everything is okay and the women’s team agrees to go…there are a lot of factors left. It is still quite far away [from being finalised],” he said.
If everything goes alright, then the tour is reportedly expected to commence from October, this year. In 2012, there was a proposed tour for Bangladesh Men’s as well but due to unsatisfactory prevailing conditions it was postponed.
In 2009, there was a terror attack on the Sri Lankan team after which every other team refrains from visiting Pakistan due to security reasons. But, recently International cricket returned to Pakistan after 6 years when Zimbabwe toured them in a 2-match T20I series and 3-match ODI series.
