BCCI always backed Shami to come out clean: CK Khanna

Mohammed Shami was cleared of any corrupt charges by Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Thursday. He was also cleared to play the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL) where he will feature for Delhi Daredevils. The news comes as a delighting one for the fast bowler after being in the headlines for all the wrong reasons in the recent past. However, the acting president of BCCI CK Khanna has cleared that the board was confident about Shami not involving in any of such corrupt practices.

Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan had alleged the cricketer indirectly of cheating the country while claiming of cheating her. Her statement sent shock waves around the cricketing world as he was being accused of match-fixing. Though Shami maintained his stance of not being involved in any such wrongdoings, he was utterly disappointed that he was linked to match-fixing claims.

We wish him for IPL

The acting President of BCCI, CK Khanna, while speaking to ANI, after the verdict seemed delighted that Mohammed Shami was cleared of the corrupt allegations. He also went on to say that the Indian board was confident that the cricketer would come out clean.He also wished him for the upcoming season of IPL and the England tour which will follow the tournament.

“We were confident that Mohammed Shami will come out clean and we wish him for IPL and the England tour. Also, I feel he will now come with more confidence,” he said.

Shami was also offered Grade ‘B’ contract by BCCI which was withheld during the actual announcement after his wife had come out with shocking allegations. She had claimed that the fast bowler had extra-marital affairs and also lodged a complaint against him over domestic violence. Meanwhile, Shami had quashed all the allegations from his wife and demanded for a thorough investigation of the matter.
