BCCI appoints 26/11 hero as security consultant for India's tour of Australia

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed retired Brigadier (retired) Govind Singh Sisodia as the security consultant for the Indian team for the Australia tour which begins this week from 8 to 31 January 2016.
Brigadier (retired) Govind Singh Sisodia posted on deputation as DIG Training in National Security Guards (NSG), Delhi, and Major Amit Bhardwaj were part of the core teams that led the operation against the terror siege in Mumbai on 26 November 2008. Sisodia successfully conducted the commando operation when the terrorists attacked two five star hotels (Taj and Trident) in November 2008. The former DIG was specially flown with his Jawans from Delhi for the operation.
Brigadier Sisodia was responsible for the arrest of the sole capture of the terror attack, Ajmal Kasab. He was also a part of the investigation of the terrorist. He has served Indian army for more than 35 years. Sisodia’s name was likely to have been recommended by the BCCI secretary, who also hails from Himachal Pradesh.
He passed out from the Indian Military Academy in 1975 and was commissioned into 16 Sikh Regiment. During his peace-keeping assignment in Sri Lanka in the year 1987, he was injured after being hit by a bullet in his arm. He has commanded 19 and 20 Sikh Regiment and a brigade in Faizabad (U.P). He also led various operations against the militants in the Kashmir valley.
The Indian cricket team will commence the tour by play two warm-up matches against Western Australia before the five-match ODI series and three-match T20I series against Australia. Thos tour will serve as a preparation for the upcoming ICC World T20 2016 which will be held in India in the month of March.
