BCCI appoints Biju George as new fielding coach of India Women's team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Biju George as the new fielding coach of the India Women’s team. The team is all set to participate in the upcoming edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup. Among the other support staff of the team, the appointments have been made for the mega event. The team will be under the head coach Tushar Arothe, while Tracy Fernandes will be the Physio.

Radha Krishnaswamy has been named as the trainer. Rashmi Pawar will fill in the role of the Masseuse for the players and Aarti Nalge takes the role of the Video Analyst. Trupti Bhattacharya will be the team manager of the team. Prior to the World Cup, team India is expected to have a preparatory camp in Mumbai. The camp will commence on June 6, 2017 and conclude on June 10, 2017.

Itinerary

The Women’s World Cup kicks off on June 24. The Indian team will leave for England on June 11 and will then play the warm-up fixtures before heading into the tournament proper. Team India has been allotted Loughborough MCC University as their training ground and they will be playing a practice game against England Women on June 13.

Following the warm-up game, the team will head to Derbyshire for another preparatory camp. The two warm up matches lined up for the India Women team is against New Zealand Women (June 19) and Sri Lanka Women (June 21). Their first match in the World Cup will be against hosts England Women on June 24 at the County Ground, Derby.

Their next game will be against West Indies Women on June 29. After that, they will take on Pakistan Women (July 2), Sri Lanka Women (July 5), South Africa Women (July 8), Australia Women (July 12), and New Zealand Women (July 15).
