The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will not renew the contract with as many as 11 coaches of the National Cricket Academy (NCA). And out of the 11, five of them are former Indian cricketers. The five cricketers are Sujith Somsundar, Subroto Banerjee, SS Das, Hrishikesh Kanitkar, and Ramesh Powar.

Also, the BCCI is inviting fresh applications for the posts of batting, bowling as well as fielding coach as well. Apart from that, the deadline to submit applications for the post of ‘Head of Cricket’ of the NCA has also been extended till 31st August 2021.

Applications for the posts of batting, bowling, and fielding coaches can be submitted till 10th September 2021. The NCA had also conducted courses for the coaches, and several prominent names, including Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Parvez Rasool, Naman Ojha, Devang Gandhi, Ashok Dinda, and Abhishek Nayar participated in it.

Rahul Dravid has applied for the post of Head of Cricket at NCA

The legendary Rahul Dravid is the only person, as of now to have applied for the post of Head of Cricket at the NCA. In fact, Irfan Pathan reckons that Dravid being appointed as the Head of the NCA is best for Indian cricket.

Since Dravid has now applied for the post of the Head of Cricket at NCA, it is clear that he is not in contention to replace Ravi Shastri when the latter’s term as the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket team ends after the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Also, only people who are aged 60 years or below can apply for the various vacant positions at the NCA. The likes of SS Das and Hrishikesh Kanitkar were donning the role of the batting coach, while Ramesh Powar and Subroto Banerjee were in charge of the bowling department.

Now, Ramesh Powar is currently the Head Coach of the Indian Women’s cricket team, while Shiv Sundar Das is donning the role of the batting coach of the Indian Women’s cricket team. Sujith Somsundar is occupying the post of Head of Cricket Education.
