Former Indian skipper and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has bought a 23.6-cottah plot with a two-storey building on Lower Rawdon Street at a whopping price of INR 40 crore. Ganguly is one of the most loved personalities in Bengal, and India as well, and is very popular among the locals despite his retirement from cricket.

At present, the BCCI president lives in his family home on Biren Roy Road in Behala along with his wife and daughter. To note, Ganguly was born and brought up in the Behala neighbourhood. As per several reports, Ganguly’s wife Dona, daughter Sana and mother Nirupa will be co-owners of the new property.

The hardest bit is to leave a place where I lived for 48 years: BCCI president Ganguly

In an interaction with The Telegraph Ganguly said, “Happy to have my own home… I think that’s what it is. Living centrally will also be convenient… and the hardest bit is to leave a place where I lived 48 years.” As per reports, the plot was bought by Ganguly from businesspersons named Anupama Bagri, her uncle Keshav Das Binani and his son Nikunj.

Even though the property is located in a busy central Calcutta neighbourhood, it is at the end of a cul de sac (Dead End) and thus can afford privacy. Local real estate experts have also expressed that the land is suitable for a bungalow as the width of the road will limit a tower development. Meanwhile, locals in the area have expressed their happiness after knowing the fact that the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has purchased a property in their neighbourhood. However, it is not clear as yet when Ganguly will be moving to his new house.

“We are very happy that dada will be with us, he will stay here, we are overwhelmed and we will welcome him,” Parimal Roy, who has a shop in this region, told News18.
