BCCI provides an update on Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness after he misses West Indies series

The BCCI confirmed that Jadeja is in the final stage of recovery from his knee injury.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian squad that will take on the West Indies in a limited-overs series that will consist of 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. The series will commence on 6th February 2022.

One absentee from the Indian squad was all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. And, the BCCI has stated why the left-handed batter missed out on a berth in the Indian limited-overs squad.

The official Twitter handle of the BCCI confirmed that Jadeja is in the final stage of recovery from his knee injury, and as a result, will miss the limited-overs series against the West Indies. The BCCI also confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been rested for the series as well.

“Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami have been rested from the series. KL Rahul will be available from the 2nd ODI onwards. R Jadeja is undergoing his final stage of recovery post his knee injury and will not be available for the ODIs and T20Is. Axar Patel will be available for the T20Is,” read the tweet from the official Twitter handle of the BCCI.

Ravindra Jadeja last played for India in November 2021 against New Zealand

Ravindra Jadeja last played for the Indian side in November 2021 in the 1st Test match against the New Zealand side. He picked up a total of 5 wickets in that match. The left-arm spinner missed India’s subsequent tour to South Africa due to injury.

Jadeja has played 57 Tests, 168 ODIs, and 55 T20I matches for the Indian side. The 33-year-old has amassed 2195 runs in the whites and has also taken 232 wickets with his left-arm spin in the longest format of the game. In ODI cricket, Jadeja has scored 2411 runs and scalped 188 willow wielders. In T20I cricket, Jadeja scored 256 runs and scalped 46 wickets for the ‘Men in Blue’. He has also played a colossal 200 IPL matches in his career as well.
