The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the richest and the most powerful of all cricket boards in the world. However, the board has developed a habit of making delayed and sudden announcements regarding schedules and fixtures. The Australians are set to lock horns with the Indians in a limited overs series starting from September 21st, but the BCCI is yet to confirm them via an official announcement.

Details:

Tuesday saw the England and Wales Cricket board reveal their schedule for the summer of 2018. The schedule consisted of every minute details of the marathon tour of India which will start from July and stretch till September.

This kind of an unprofessional approach from the BCCI has become common and this is not the first time the board is doing so. There have been a handful of examples where the board had kept the fans confused about the fixtures of a certain series till the last minute. On previous occasions, the board has also announced a few bilateral series on the spur of the moment to benefit their commercial partners.

In August, the BCCI hurriedly confirmed the home winter series against Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. The series against the Sri Lankans was unscheduled. It has impacted the series against South Africa.

This has been like a chronic disease the board has been suffering from. Even in the year of 2016, the BCCI had to switch games between venues. “I agree we need to have more clarity in future (while planning series). But we will sort out this season’s dates by September 8.” Vinod Rai, who is the head of the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), told Hindustan Times.

The Indian team is currently in Sri Lanka and are on the brink of completing the tour with a solitary T20  game left.
